The recently refurbished Mombasa Yacht Club hosted its first major social event last Sunday, the 29th November. Under the able stewardship of Natalie Balck more than 200 visitors, members and guests assembled to enjoy the ambiance of this unique venue and to celebrate and support the Movember Movement, a charity set up in 2004 in Australia to raise funds for Research and Treatment of Prostate Cancer. Here in Mombasa the Aga Khan Hospital has adopted it as part of its Anti-Cancer Program together with its Breast Cancer Unit. Also supported was the Mount Kenya Trust a charity committed to the conservation of Mt Kenya’s anti poaching and de-forestation programme.
The Month of November has been adopted internationally as Movember , the 30 days when Mo bros begin to grow moustaches with the support of Mo sistars . The best moustache is then auctioned at a Social meeting at the end of the month..
